Historic renovation, also called historic preservation, is the act of restoring historic structures and landmarks to their original form and look as part of preserving the history, including the culture, legacy, story, and people behind their construction. Historic renovation can be done in all parts of the country and even in the world, provided that the landmarks to be restored have been part of the country’s history.

There are many people, even groups and organizations, involved in historic renovation. To know who they are, continue reading on.

1.       The owner of the historic landmark – Because the original owner or builder of a historic landmark or structure has already been gone for many years already, this could refer to the descendants of the owner, group or organization to which the owner belongs to while he was still living, or the local government. The owner will have to initiate or approve the renovation process. Without their official approval, the activity shall not push through.

2.       Local government – The local government officers, especially members of the Department of Tourism, usually have an opinion about the restoration of historical landmarks and structures. In some cases, they even sponsor or fund the restoration to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to plan. The government usually supports this kind of project as it brings a positive impact on the state’s or country’s tourism and economic growth.

3.       Historic preservation consultants and contractors – These are the people who will spearhead and lead the restoration of historic structures. They are composed of consultants, engineers, architects, construction workers, painters, and carpenters who will use all their might and knowledge to bring an old and damaged historical structure back to its original look.

These people or group of people are the ones responsible in the process of historic renovation. Their dedication, hard work, and collaboration will influence the success of the renovation process.
